2 Thessalonians 3:1
Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you.
Paul asks for prayers that the word of the Lord will speed ahead.
For the work we're involved in to be effective, or fruitful, God has to be in the middle of it, doing the work himself. His word must go out ahead of us, preparing the way. We must be abiding in him, taking action as he leads. And we we must be empowered by him as we proclaim the gospel.
We pray that the word of the Lord spreads rapidly ahead, preparing hearts to receive it. We pray that we will be empowered by the Holy Spirit, as we abide in Christ and join in the work God is doing.
